About Shelley Dawson
I am a Clinical Psychologist who offers online assessments for neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), for adults and adolescents aged 13 and above.
Black Swan Wellness is my second private practice on the Mid-North Coast. In both practices, I have treated a range of mental health disorders. Before entering private practice, I worked with adolescents and young adults at Headspace. I began my career primarily administering cognitive assessments through the Department of Education. I am pleased to have refocused on neurodevelopmental assessment.
My approach is collaborative to ensure that the assessment process and nature of the assessed disorder are fully understood. The assessment is comprehensive and follows best practice guidelines, using gold-standard psychometrics. It also involves identifying any co-occurring concerns and formulating your unique profile. The outcome includes personalised recommendations for future management based on your unique profile.
Overall, my goal is to provide you with an evidence-based understanding of the disorder and a better understanding of how the disorder manifests for you individually to better equip you for the way forward.

Rebates and other funding may be available depending on your eligibility.
- Medicare Gap Fee: The difference between the psychologist session fee (initial and/or optional feedback appointments) and the Medicare rebate.
- Medicare Rebates: $141.85 per 50+ minute session with a valid doctor’s referral or Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP). You can secure your first appointment without a referral but must have one at the appointment to be eligible for the rebate. More about Medicare rebates >
- Private Health Rebates: Available depending on your private health policy and ‘extras’ cover. Please contact your private health insurance company to check your eligibility and the exact rebate amounts. More about Private Health Insurance rebates >
- Cognitive Assessments:
- Book an initial appointment to discuss your concerns with your psychologist and determine if a cognitive assessment is appropriate.
- At the end of an assessment, you have the option to book a feedback appointment to review the comprehensive report and the personalised strategies recommended by your psychologist.
