A work-related psychological injury is a condition affecting your behaviour, mood and thoughts as a result of your job or work environment. Psychological injuries can be experienced as a result of witnessing or being part of a traumatic event at work, or they can develop over time due to ongoing bullying or high or low job demands.
Psychological conditions covered by WorkCover may include depression, anxiety, and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), among others.
WorkCover Queensland requires workers seeking to make a psychological injury claim to submit a claim form.
Watch the preceding video to learn more about the process of making a WorkCover claim.
WorkCover typically contacts you a few business days after receiving your claim application, and they may also speak to your employer. This is to gather more details and information needed to assess your claim. They may gather information from your doctor or other health professionals.
See the following video for more information.
If your claim has been accepted, your psychologist will send your appointment invoices to WorkCover, referencing your claim number. In this case, WorkCover will pay them directly for your appointment. Sometimes, you may need to pay your psychologist yourself at your appointment. In this case, WorkCover will reimburse you for the costs related to your injury up to the amount listed in the corresponding table of costs.
