I am a Registered Psychologist with over 25 years of experience.
While working as a psychologist, I have experience in many areas of general psychological therapy, along with generalised psychological support. Additionally, I have a keen interest and expertise in the following areas:
I coordinated and co-founded Australia’s premier residential treatment program with The Banyans in S.E. Qld. I continue to provide treatment to those needing support to overcome different dependency concerns. By managing an extensive team of psychologists, doctors, and other health professionals, I have developed valuable insight into high-performance health teams.
My lengthy experience living in a family managing type 1 diabetes has given me the insight, language, and understanding to assist individuals and families in managing chronic disease. This includes conditions like diabetes, cancer, chronic fatigue, etc, all of which are often connected to moderate anxiety, stress, burnout and depression.
Along with several other trauma-focused modalities, I have been trained to Masters level in the Brainspotting therapy technique. This effective and innovative therapeutic methodology assists with the processing of psychological and emotional concerns from traumas and a variety of life issues and concerns.
My experience working in and co-founding The Banyans Treatment Centre provided me with the sensitivity and insight to help various business owners, senior leaders, public figures and sports personalities. I bring a sensitive approach and am well-connected to multiple health professionals and bespoke service providers to enhance well-rounded care and growth.
I am not a sports psychologist; however, I work with athletes competing at the Olympic and elite levels, bringing fresh and complementary therapy to other teams and sports psychologists. Various Brainspotting modalities are part of my approach, which can benefit athletes and business professionals. I have extensive experience supporting business professionals and management team members in their occupational endeavours.
Along with providing supervision for many different religious professionals, I have a lengthy history of providing therapy for Christians and other church professionals. My focus areas have included religious trauma, identity, gender and sexuality. My experience offers valuable support for LGBTIQ+ people, as well as First Nations and non-Western cultural backgrounds peoples.
In addition to my experience in counselling and rehabilitation services, I have extensive experience in education, training, and staff development. I actively supervise various mental health workers, psychologists, religious workers, and health care professionals.
I have held the positions of Clinical Director and Senior Psychologist in private practice and inpatient clinic settings. In these roles, I pioneered various innovative care and support initiatives across the education, social enterprise, and corporate sectors.
I am a generally registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc.
“I have learned so much from the patients I have worked with. I consider it a privilege to have found my “calling” in the privilege of mental health work“.
