About Dr Joachim Diederich
I am a Clinical Psychologist with decades of experience in both psychological assessment and evidence-based therapy. Over the course of my career, I have supported a wide range of clients across the lifespan, helping people manage diverse emotional, behavioural, and cognitive concerns.
Today, my practice is dedicated exclusively to working with adults aged 18 and over. I am committed to providing thoughtful, down-to-earth care tailored to help you navigate life’s complexities and work collaboratively towards meaningful changes in your everyday life.
Comprehensive Psychological Assessments
I offer comprehensive ADHD, Autism and Combined ADHD and Autism diagnostic assessments aimed at building a clear and well-rounded understanding of each person’s strengths, challenges, and day-to-day functioning. My background in developmental psychology prepares me well for my assessment and therapy work with neurodivergent clients.
Assessments typically include a detailed clinical interview, consideration of personal and developmental history, and the use of standardised questionnaires and tests where appropriate. The outcome is not only a clear explanation of findings, but also practical, individualised recommendations to guide support, workplace or study adjustments, and future planning.
Psychological Therapy
Alongside assessment work, I provide psychological therapy tailored to each person’s needs and goals. I work collaboratively with clients to set clear goals and to build skills that support long-term wellbeing.
My approach is grounded in evidence-based methods, particularly Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Therapy (RET). Therapy focuses on understanding patterns of thinking, emotion, and behaviour, and developing effective strategies to manage challenges such as stress, anxiety, low mood, and life transitions.
German-speaking Psychologist
In addition to my work in English, I am pleased to offer therapy sessions in German. As a bilingual practitioner, I understand that discussing complex emotional or cognitive concerns is often most effective in one’s native tongue. I welcome members of the German-speaking community in Brisbane to reach out for culturally tailored and linguistically fluent care.

Qualifications, Registrations & Training
- Diplom-Psychologe (Masters degree equivalent), University of Münster, Germany.
- PhD in Psycholinguistics, University of Bielefeld, Germany.
- Higher Doctorate (Habilitation) in Computer Science, University of Hamburg, Germany.
- AHPRA Registered Psychologist in Australia with endorsement in Clinical Psychology.
- Fellow of the College of Clinical Psychologists of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
- Registered with Medicare.
